Since
2003, POSCO has been examining the feasibility of
fuel cell business with an aim to achieve our second
great success in the energy field after the first
one in the steel industry.
Currently, the world is heavily relying on the energy
system that is focused on thermal power and atomic
energy, and this reliance put the existence of our
next generation in danger due to the threat posed
to the environment. With the determination that
innovative source of energy, hydrogen-based fuel
cell, will contribute to achieving a brighter future
for the humankind as the highly efficient, environment-friendly
energy system, in February of 2007, POSCO began
to actively promote energy business through one
of our subsidiaries, POSCO Power.
Fuel cell has a spreading effect that can create
a new market for industries for metal, electricity,
electron and machinery, and related equipments. |

Based
on the mid/long-term roadmap for fuel energy business,
POSCO is currently promoting active research, together
with establishing the investment plans and expanding
our facilities for the business. Further, POSCO
is focused on expanding the market stratum through
raising public awareness and public relations.
In the near future, POSCO Power will effectively
respond to the shift in energy paradigm through
fuel cell business by realizing the hydrogen-based
energy society. POSCO Power will continue to quietly
work hard until the day everyone in the world is
able to freely enjoy high-quality green energy. |

production. It is expanding its overseas production
facilities with an aim to produce 50 million
ton of crude steel. Furthermore, POSCO not
only places its focus on economic effectiveness,
